In Germany

Oma died on the 27th of December. I sort of had known, that she was not doing to well during the last couple weeks, but it still hurt. I guess, it always does. So, Silvan and I flew to Germany with my parents leaving daddy behind.
The funeral was on the 4th and I am so glad I went to say good bye and to be around my family, although it was a pretty short trip.

Not even 3 months old, Silvan has traveled the world. He was great during the flight, although the snow and ice in the US and Germany made the flights pretty nerve wracking with cancellations and delays. But we made it just in time for the funeral. I had only slept 1hr on the airplane and was pretty exhausted. Additionally, I had cold and Silvan got his first bronchitis. And now, several days later I realize, that he had another growth spurt. Plus, so many new faces and people during that Monday. No wonder he was nursing a lot during those few crazy days.
But now is playing with his hands, he can hold a rattle maybe 20sec, he grasps and touches things, he talks more and more, and just expresses himself even more.

I really enjoyed the time when my uncle read the sympathy letters in a small family circle. It was a beautiful bonding time.

My parents new apartment is really nice, I like the huge living and dining area which is filled with outside light and then the smaller rooms in the back .

We went to Speyer with my aunt and lit a candle in the Dom.

Because of the chaotic re-booking of my parents flight, I hadn't realized, that my flight would not leave before Thursday; I thought we had to leave on Wednesday, but luckily my dh had checked the schedule; so I was gifted another day to spent with my family and friends and had time to relax a little bit.

Anyways, we are back home. DH was so glad to have us back, he missed us a lot, but luckily a friend took him bouldering and to the movies. It is still pretty cold today and I am back at my computer letting my models run and interpreting the results, so I can meet with my advisor early next week. DH is taking care of our little guy and doing most of the household.

Also, the cold weather is getting the best of the winter greens. But there are still tons of root vegetables at the local farmers market.
