We decided to stroll to our hotel; the POD hotel - a fun and fresh, and fairly affordable Hotel for NYC, with tiny cute rooms, and Ipod docking stations in each room, clean and it a good neighborhood. On our way we passed the NY Public Library, which N mistook to be a bank and decided to visit inside.

As the rest of NYC, everything and everyone was in a Christmas mood. The only thing a tiny winy bit annoying were the people from the salvation army, who not only were ringing bells to collect money, but also were singing Christmas songs with speakers... Oh dear.
We made it to the Rockefeller Center, where we grabbed some lunch, watched the ice skaters and saw the tree - a 77 year old tree this year, it was used once as a Christmas tree and then planted outside.
And then we decided to go windowshopping along 5th Avenue. The windows were fantastically decorated. It was just cool and so many details could be found (click on the photo to see a larger version):

Well, it got dark and the lights were turned on:
The next day was rainy-snowy, so we spent most of the day in the Guggenheim Museum and the Met. So many cool and fun art. It was also fun to just watch the people. After watching yesterday rich and furcoated ladies buying jewlery for several $100K a piece, the artsy crowds were quite a contrast. And then around 3pm we saw that the sun had come out and we decided to spent the rest of the daylight time to walk around Central Park, enjoying the snow (click on the photo to see a larger version):

Later on we went to Soho and China Town to get some dinner. We had some Knish at Schimmel's, and a sausage at Katz's and finally some Wonton soup for $4 a bowl. It was very filling and soo much cheaper (and better) then lunch at the Upper Eastside.
The next morning we got up before sunrise to take the train back home:

After arriving at the train station, we noticed a flat tire on our car. The trunk was still frozen shut. We had to use a key and climb into the trunk from the backseat to open the trunk with combined forces. Then we noticed, that the spare tire was frozen into a 2-3cm thick ice layer. We found the parking garage attendant who provided us with a gardening tool, so we could hack the tire free. Finally, we could start replacing the tire. Everything went well, until we noticed that the garage, that had changed our tires in November had used one different bolt, so our custom fit wrench did not work. Again we went to find the parking attendant. He lent us a 4 way wrench. To top it all off, one of the bolts broke while trying to take them off... After all that hassle, it was easy. All together it took us about 90min to leave the garage.
Back in Bristol everything was white and covered in snow:
