A very warm week

We were lucky to have some nice and warm weather and took the chance to go for daily bike rides to the local cemetery. Silvan loved it so much, that the first night we could not go he threw a tantrum requesting "boku iketai" - I want to go the cemetery. When  we replied "it's dark outside" he just explained and wailed "No, not dark, the sun is in Tokyo, it's not dark!". And later on he explained "I geh draussen selber, wenn mein Bruder kommt". (I'll just go outside by myself, when my brother is born". Which led us to establish some rules how far he can go - our yard is fine, but not beyond the birth bath - and so far he's been sticking to those rules.

We let Silvan play in the leaves, which he loved. In the evenings we did a search for ticks, and wanted to change clothes. But only after we explained what a tick is and that it can make you sick was he willing to give up his clothes.

Similar arguments were successful for  brushing teeth - he still hates it but at least he does it voluntarily to scrub off the "bikings" (bacteria).

Life with a reasoning 2 1/4 year old :-)
