Luckily several hours later I was transferred as well, and at least then we were in the same hospital - and only separated by 2 floors and I finally got to hold him and smell him. Going from the small hospital with 30 births a month to the big one with 670 births a month was quite a difference. The staff in the NICU was wonderful, but the nurses on the postpartum floor were very impersonal, some even rude and mean.

Birthday
What a day! At 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant Nogusa was born
(52cm long, 3.99kg and 37cm head circumference) via surprise cesarean birth. The prenatal appointment had shown a problematic heart beat, which could not be resolved quickly, and shortly thereafter our baby was born. He had to be transferred to the NICU in the "big hospital" for evaluation of the
still ongoing tachycardia. The ambulance came a couple hours later, and
Daddy went along; the nurses were so kind to us and stayed with me and talked to me for a while. I got to nurse him, but both of us entangled with
cables, me still under the after effects from the surgery, feeling very
immobile, and having to say good bye already - it was very hard.
