Another beautiful Fall day

By now our power at home was back. Silvan started his new pre-school. It is such a great match for him. He's been welcomed with kindness and warmth, the atmosphere he also friendlier and calmer. Less strange rules than before. Silvan also loves the bit more academical focus of the daycare, although I had always been worried about teaching children letters at age 3, it just seemed ridiculous and wasteful, but he actually loves it. He loves to pretend write and read, he's finding letters (S,M, O, A, P, D, T). Also the daily reports are a bit more sound. For instance, he did not speak a word the first 2 days, but he smiled a lot, and he would shake his head or nod. He always has to figure out first how things work before he can or wants to dive in and play along. It's just who he is. He figured the rules of the activity center out and followed them well. There are about 6 different centers (generally following into these categories: art, literature, science and math, movement). These can be anything from painting to measuring to learning a new letters. He says "I want to learn something new, it's time for daycare", he hates to miss circle time (where they talk and read books, talk about the weather, and sing songs). Some morning he seems a bit shy, but again, it is just him who needs to figure out which activity to join and how to go about doing so. Ms Vicky and Ms Kim are great in guiding him to find his spot at the new school.

But now it was weekend again and we headed outdoors:

Building stepping stones to cross the creek.

I'm already a pro in "sitting up".

 Exploring the sand.
