Arctic Air

It was one of those cold winter weeks, the temperature plummeted to -20C at night, the days were sunny but frosty and cold. We spent a lot of time indoors, crafting, drawing, reading, listening to Preussler's "Die Kleine Hexe", baking, talking about orange cats.  Everything Silvan had been learning about the ecosystem, animal behavior (predator-prey behavior for instance), latest news, camouflage epitomized in this orange cat, that lives in Narrangansett. It hid so well from the hunters that caught all the cougars centuries that we can still see its tracks in the snow sometimes, but actually they would prefer to live Tokyo, because there are no hunters in Tokyo, because there are no guns allowed in Japan (you see, we do listen to NPR and gun control was an all present topic). Silvan goes on and on about these orange cats for hours at a time (here is a 1min example in Japanese).

Talking about language, I had meant to compile a sample of Silvan latest words:
  • Landansicht (Land in Sicht - land in sight)
  • Virusse (Viren - virus)
  • Aclendar (Calendar)
  • Muelleinmal (Muelleimer - Trashcan)
  • Kumra (kuruma - car)
On a side note - Nogusa and I started a "Mom and baby world dance course" and its so much fun for both of us - he loves to watch the others dance and move, and I enjoy talking to the mom's I had met during prenatal yoga now with babies outside the bellies (they are between 6weeks to 13months old). Some women really have a good rhythm others have two left feet and I feel comfortable somewhere in the middle. The two instructors come from very different backgrounds (ballroom-latin  dance and belly-dance-african dance), which makes for a great mix of music and movements.
