Block Island

Before our move we decided to take last weekend off and visit Block Island. We got up early and took the first ferry from Point Judith. On Block Island, we visited the Farmers Market to buy bread and some yummy scones, freshly baked by a woman living on Block Island. We walked to get two bikes and a trailer and started riding across the Island.

It was a very hot day, and it was even hotter inside Silvan's trailer. Silvan got understandably cranky and we pushed both bikes for a bit until reaching Mohegan Bluff, where we cooled down in the water. The waves were big and a bit scary for a small guy, but the exploring the tide pools was fun for all of us and we spent 3 hrs in the water.

It was nap time and the parents got some iced chai and frozen lemonade in town before heading for a bike tour of the island, while the little guy slept. It was fun to get a little work out while enjoying the views.

After a break for apple juice and crackers, we returned the bikes in the late afternoon, and walked back to the Harbor through a small free zoo with kangaroos, cows, turtles and ducks. Now, Silvan got his work out, before heading home on the ferry.
