Coggeshell Farm

Coggeshell Farm is a working 17th century farm with in walking distance from our home; it was a quiet and sunny Saturday morning after a cool night, Fall is definitely not far away.

The turkeys danced around us; they were soft and big and ugly and beautiful. They roam free on the grounds and after 4 generations they have finally recovered their natural instincts to be able to survive in a setting like that on their own. The young turkeys learn from their mother to fear certain predators, but if the mom's don't know (which they don't if they are bred for turkey farms), then the young ones don't know either, and it takes some learning.

Walking home singing "auf der Mauer auf der Lauer" ....
