Second Birthday Party

The night before it had snowed - we all woke up as the snow flakes kept tickling our faces and in the early morning there were 3cms of fresh new powder on the ground. I am still  marveling at this early Nor'Easter we had. October and snow! Weren't we just swimming on Martha's Vineyard and exploring tidepools last weekend? What a strange fall indeed - seems we might have skipped fall and gone directly to winter.

We had made plans to celebrate Silvan's birthday with friends at the Zoo (and to look for bears there).  There was much more snow there and we were glad about the snow pants we had bought earlier - but still no booties yet, which is good, as his feet just grew again, but bad, because 5cm of snow and puddles makes for wet toddler feet. We still had fun running around the zoo - it seemed we were the only visitors that day! And the animals were pretty happy as well with roaring lions, jumping monkeys, giant blue pigeons, running servals and more. We warmed up in the house of the tropics and enjoyed dinner at a local Italian place with pasta and pizza, which the two little buddies loved!
