A post written a long while back, but finally published. Even though he is not nursing any longer - it is still more common for him to wake up in the middle of the night than not; and he still loves to cuddle with all of us during night time.
After two years of nursing we also took the opportunity to wean Silvan. Our nursing sessions had slowed down over time two 2-3 times a day. We had tried gently on and off earlier, but the effort it seemed to take just wasn't worth the advantages. But this time around it went fairly smoothly, although we have to find new ways to comfort him by rocking him and singing songs, when life is hard on him. At night we now sing songs and he cuddles with Nobuhiro and me. Our little guy still wakes up 3-5 times a night, mostly just "one song long", but sometimes a bit longer. Dreams are getting more intense, where he wakes up crying and scared or upset. Usually nursing would have helped quickly, now it takes 30-40min to calm him down, until he realizes everything is alright and it's ok to go back to sleep. But overall it seemed to have been the right time for us.
