N and I had decided to make a through for the living room in shibori style. I had bought a book to learn about these techniques and dye and cloth. N was started stitching a pattern, which is apparently very difficult with the inadaquate western needles, thimbles and threads. The Japanese needles have smaller wholes, the thimbles are not placed on top of a finger, but are like rings and the threads are better as well ;-) We managed anyways.
After all the sewing was done, we mixed the dye and had it soak overnight, laundered it and the result was a beautiful city skyline with fireworks - our new couch cover:
