St.Peter's Cathedral.

The next morning it was time for our Japanese family to pack up, but there was just enough time to visit St.Peter's cathedral. We waited in line and realized that there were big festivities coming up, as 7 new saints were being celebrated the coming Sunday. While waiting in line Silvan was running around and telling stories with obaachan - his Japanese has really picked up once seeing his grandma, aunt and cousin.

 Finally inside the cathedral:

The littlest tourist slept, and Silvan listened to all the stories about the statues or he tried to look for dragons.

I am still unsure about this Herculean woman and next to her seemed to be Athena with an owl.
 The cuppola.
Up close, we finally realized that these were actually mosaics.

 Up and up we go.
 View towards the east.

On top was a small eatery and a giftshop, who would have thought?

And the swiss guard. The boys loved to watch them.

In the afternoon we brought our Japanese relatives to the airport. It was wonderful to see them all after such a long time. We were sad to see them go. Silvan kept asking for them the next day, and still asks when we will visit Tokyo and Akira. Akira has invited him to play with him during a skype call, and Silvan answered very seriously "But I can't go into the computer". These moments make us want to buy plane tickets pretty much right away.
