The ancient Rome

The next day we went out to explore the Rome of Roman times.

Our ancient elevator up and down to our bed and breakfast.
We started with the Colosseum. Silvan loved it, and kept talking about lions and bears and wolves and gladiators and how he would fight with all of them for a long time.

After the dusty and stinky day in the city, it was really nice to get some fresher air on the Palatinum. Silvan kept saying "let's go home, it stinks."

It was also a Roman Sports day and on the streets people were playing traditional and modern Italian games such as Tamburine ball, soccer, parcour, spinning, or playing with kapla stones and many other things.

The Forum Romanum. Here both kids had fallen asleep and daddy carried them both. Finding an exit turned out to be tricky, as a lot of them were closed which we didn't realize until we stood at the various gates.

On the back of our hotel was a little supply store for Catholic priests:
Back in Neustadt fall had progressed - it was foggy but colorful.

We had a great time in Rome - we did not see too many museums, but there was so much to see outdoors and the weather was great (hot) for late October. Telling Silvan stories and explaining what we saw kept everyone happy.
